An eyewitness who was present when some gunmen attacked the ancient town of Owo in Ondo State revealed that the gunmen used explosive devices before opening fire on people. Recall that an unknown number of gunmen yesterday stormed a mining company in Owo town and injured several people.
The attack was coming barely seven weeks after some gunmen stormed a church in the town and massacred more than 50 people. An eyewitness who spoke with Vanguard Newspaper said the incident occurred at Folahami Junction, where a popular mining company is situated.
The witness said the gunmen used explosive devices on the mining site before they started shooting at people indiscriminately. He stated that many people were injured during the attack and most of them are taken to the hospital for treatment.
When contacted, the spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command confirmed the attack but she said the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.
"Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company Owo, Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to Hospital and they are in stable condition." The police spokesman said.
