APC Chieftains have asked Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the National Leader and presidential candidate of APC, Bola Tinubu, from replacing his temporal running mate, Kabiru Masari, ahead of the 2023 presidential general election, Channels Television reports.

Channels Television recalls that shortly after Bola Tinubu clinched the ruling All Progressive Congress' presidential ticket, the party submitted Kabiru Masari's name as his temporal running mate for the main time until Tinubu finds a qualified person to pick as running mate.

However, two chieftains of the All Progressive Congress and delegates in the just concluded APC presidential primary election, Zakari Maigari and Zubainatu Mohammed, approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to stop Bola Tinubu from replacing Kabiru Masari as his running mate.

The APC chieftains asked the court to determine whether it is legal for Kabiru Masari to withdraw as the vice-presidential candidate of APC in order to be substituted with another person by APC, judging from the combined effects of sections 142(1) and sections 29(1), 31 and 33 of the Electoral Act. The APC chieftains also asked the court to determine whether Kabiru Masari's withdrawal as APC vice-presidential candidate does not entail the automatic withdrawal of Bola Tinubu as APC flag bearer in the 2023 general election.
