As gathered from BBC NEWS PIGDIN, a Magistrate court in Illorin, Kwara State has remanded five suspects in prison on charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation and indecent assault. In a video that went viral on social media days ago, a young man identified as Jimoh Abdulfatai alongside four of his friends were seen verbally abusing and mercilessly flogging a young lady on the premise that she cheated on Jimoh, her supposed boyfriend.
In the video clip, the guys were cursing and questioning her on how she was able to afford a new phone, before her supposed boyfriend told her friends to hold her tight while he spank her buttocks with cane. Narrating her own side of the incident, the victim said that she met Jimoh Abdulfatai in January 2022 who asked her out, but she told him she already had a boyfriend. She revealed that on the fateful day that she was assaulted, Jimoh had invited her to his place which she went, but little did she know he and his friends had other plans.
She said they accused her of playing hard to get for Jimoh, while going around sleeping with other men for money. The victim said that before she could say anything in her defense, they started beating her up and used her phone to record it and later shared the video online. She said that it was those who saw the video online that reported it to the police. She added that she's very sad about the incident while revealing that her greatest concern is not to get rusticated from the University due to the indecent video. The victim concluded that she has received treatment for the pains she sustained from the assault and demanded that what she wants is that justice is served.
According to Kwara State Police command, the Jimoh Abdulfatai and his friends have already confessed to the crime and gave reasons why they did it. They will remain behind bars pending the hearing and trial on the case which is set to commence on the first of next month.
