Students demand an end to the ASUP strike

Students who are enrolled in public universities or polytechnics across the nation are experiencing difficult circumstances at the moment. It would seem that the strike action that has been taken by the Academic Staff Union of Universities will continue indefinitely (ASUU). In addition to this, lecturers at polytechnics, organized under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), went on strike since the Federal Government was unable to meet their demands. As if this were not enough, the strike lasted for three days.

A month earlier, during a meeting of the Federal Government's National Executive Council that took place in Yola, Adamawa State, in March 2022, the union presented the Federal Government with an ultimatum to satisfy its demands or face the prospect of the closure of all polytec deadline for accepting the ultimatum was May 4, 2022. Because of this, they began a warning strike that would last for two weeks on May 16th.
