Senator Abaribe Dumps PDP, Resigns As Senate Minority Leader

 Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Three days after Mr. Obi announced his departure from PDP on Wednesday evening.


In a letter to the Ward Chairman of the PDP in his ward, Ward 5, Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia State, Senator Abribe announced his decision.

In a letter dated May 24, 2022, the senator stated, "This development is a direct result of the disgraceful exhibition of illegality, impunity, and an undemocratic party decision, as well as conversations with my constituents."

He stated that he would reveal his new political stance in due time.

In a separate letter, Senator Abaribe informed Senate President Ahmed Lawan of his departure from the PDP.

"This also signifies my resignation as Senate Minority Leader," he stated.

"I would want to thank you and my dear Senate colleagues for the pleasant camaraderie we shared when I was Minority Leader."
