 Tinubu Speaks On Muslim-Muslim Ticket

All eyes are on Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as he resolves the jigsaw puzzle surrounding his running mate as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) this week.

Tinubu has up till Friday to submit the name of his vice presidential candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).



















The knotty issue has been whether the running mate, who should be from the North, must be a Muslim.

Anxiety in PDP over Wike, APC govs meeting

The decision of Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, to host some All Progressives Congress, APC, governors believed to be close associates of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has sparked fresh anxiety in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Sunday Vanguard gathered that while leaders of the PDP are haggling over how best to handle Wike and his supporters, especially among governors elected on its platform, the move by APC governors took “only a few” of them by surprise. 

A member of the PDP National Executive Committee who pleaded anonymity so as not to “jeopardize fence-mending efforts,” said the party is bigger than every member.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Saturday in Daura, Katsina State, urged Nigerians to report suspicious activities and individuals to security agencies to stall terrorist attacks.

This was as he said the increased disclosure of unusual activities would expose bandits and terrorists, nudging the security apparatus to eliminate threats across the country.

“The people know them. So, let them report them to the security agencies,” he said.

CBN develops guidelines to expand financial services

The Central Bank of Nigeria has developed the digital financial services awareness guidelines to address gaps in consumer knowledge and practices with Digital Financial Services.

It disclosed this in a report titled ‘Digital financial services awareness guidelines’ on Friday.

CBN stated that “DFS has the potential to expand access to financial services for the Nigerian population and spur innovation in the financial services industry.

Aspirant seeks nullification of Nasarawa West APC candidate

APC Senatorial aspirant for Nasarawa West, Barr Labaran Magaji has filed a suit seeking the nullification of the primary elections that produced Arch Shehu Tukur as APC Senatorial candidate for the zone.

The Federal High Court, Lafia Division, Nasarawa State has fixed 13th July 2022 for a hearing on the case challenging the outcome of the senatorial primary election held on the 4th of June, 2022.

The defendants in the case are Architect Shehu Tukur, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), State and National Chairmen of APC, Hon. Abdullahi Abbas, Alh. Yakubu Mohammed Soja, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Auta, Major General AT Jibrin (rtd), and Princess Miriam Onuoha.
