According to the Punch, a suspected armed robber, Tosin Omoniyi was arrested by the Ondo State police command for robbing a couple at their home and attempting to rape the wife. The incident happened at Idanre community in Idanre local government area of the state.
Omoniyi, a motorcyclist, who was among the 14 suspected criminals paraded by the Ondo State police command confessed he operates alone and has successfully robbed many people in the community.
He said he was only able to get ₦50,000 from his victims after making his way into their house through the window at 1am. Not satisfied with the amount of cash he saw, he ordered the wife into her room to search it and tried to rape her there.
Luck however ran out on him when the husband of the woman he was attempting to rape summoned courage, went with four other men who overpowered him, dispossessed him of his gun and handed him over to the police.
In a related development, the Daily Post reports that the Lagos State police public relations officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin announced the arrest of three traffic robbers who operate around Mobolaji Johnson road, Ikeja.
The suspects , Usman Mohammed, Azeez Adeleke and Solomon Odiya were seen with items such as a Tecno mobile phone, a dagger and ₦5400.
