INEC extends voters’ registration by 60 days
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to prolong the ongoing Continuous Voters' Registration (CVR) exercise by 60 days in response to popular outrage.

In order to allow more Nigerians to register, the House of Representatives had earlier recommended INEC to extend the deadline for the continuous voter registration by an additional 60 days starting on June 30, 2022.
On Tuesday, the commission gave Nigerians assurances that it would abide by the court's ruling to prolong the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration program through June 30
There have been proposals to extend the CVR exercise, which was scheduled to expire in June 2022.
The number of persons swarming different voter registration offices across the nation has generally increased.
CLICK TO WATCH NOWThe electoral board had been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja to delay concluding the process until all eligible voters had been registered.
However, Aishatu Jibril Dukku, the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, informed MPs during a plenary session on Wednesday that the Commission has consented to extend the CVR to 60 days.
"All of our resolutions were approved," she said. "The Committee met with INEC yesterday (Tuesday) and they agreed to extend the CVR.

In order to accomplish the goal, the House of Representatives also requested that the Commission send out more personnel and voting machines around the nation.
